2M Alliance opens new service between Asia and West Coast

The 2M Alliance announced a new service between Asia and the North American West Coast, in response to the Hanjin Shipping bankruptcy.

Maersk Line and MSC, the two companies with the container shipping alliance, will add new loops between China and USA, occupying the vacant niche in East-West trades.

The two carriers will launch this new trans-Pacific service on September 15, which will serve business previously handled by Hanjin.

The Maersk Line new TP1 service will call at ports of Yantian, Shanghai, Busan and Los Angeles/Long Beach. The loop will be operated by six vessels per week, each with capacity of 4,000 TEU.

The MSC new service Maple will call at ports of Busan, Shanghai, Yantian and Prince Rupert. At the service will be deployed six vessels per week, each with capacity of 5,000 TEU.
