European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Pierre Moscovici, and the Minister of Customs of China, Mr Yu Guangzhou signed a Strategic Framework for Customs Cooperation.
The Framework sets out the priorities and objectives for EU-China customs cooperation for the years ahead.
The framework’s priority areas of focus are protecting citizens and combating illegal trade through effective customs controls, and at the same time speeding up and reducing administrative burdens on legitimate trade.
It provides for an effective communication and cooperation mechanism between the customs authorities in the EU and China. It allows them to assist one another to ensure the proper application of customs legislation and to prevent, investigate and combat any breaches.
The agreement signed in 2017 also introduces an important cooperation on matters concerning e-commerce, an emerging part of industry which has been on the steep rise in terms of the value and market share.< Return
