CN and Teamsters reach tentative agreement, ending strike

After a weeklong strike, the Teamsters and Canadian National (CN) announced that they have reached a tentative agreement to renew the collective agreement for over 3,000 conductors, trainpersons and yard workers.

This agreement allows for CN employees to return to work at 2 p.m. local times Wednesday, and yard assignments will start at 06:00 a.m. local times Thursday morning and there will be no job action during the ratification period.

The railway says that delays are expected as the surge of backlogged traffic works its way through the rail network.

Details of the tentative agreement will not be released until union members have had a chance to review the document first.

The results of the ratification votes are expected within 8 weeks.
