Cross-border flow of merchandise continues despite restrictions

As your know, the U.S.-Canada land border has been temporarily closed to all non-essential travel since March 21 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. “Non-essential” travel includes travel that is considered tourism or recreational in nature. (The United States and Mexico have implemented similar measures between themselves.)

As governments agree that it is critical to preserve supply chains between both countries the new measure exempts freight shipments from the restrictions. Travel by healthy individuals who need to cross the border for work purposes or to access necessary services is also permitted, provided they have not been outside of Canada or the U.S. in the previous 14 days.

Customs and other federal agencies involved in import controls and verifications in both countries have contingency plans in place and are still operating.

Freight from all other countries can also be customs cleared as it arrives.

We remain in operation to serve your customs and international shipping needs, adapting to the situation every day, as necessary.
