FreightWatch International reports that a major cargo crime gang have been apprehended after a four-year investigation by Italian police in Busto Arsizio, Lombardy.
Eight individuals suspected of operating in an organized criminal gang have been detained and will face trial on charges of theft, receiving stolen goods, and money laundering.
The gang targeted trucks, trailers, and construction equipment across northern Italy.
The investigation began in 2012 after the theft, which involved equipment and construction machinery worth €300,000. Police describe the gang as being highly sophisticated and very well organized.
