Maersk ship sets new loaded TEU record at port in Malaysia

The Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), Malaysia’s most advanced container terminal, announced it has once again broken the record for the amount of cargo on a vessel after the Monaco Maersk departed with 19,284 TEUs.

According to Vessel Finder, the 2nd Generation Triple-E vessel left the port on May 31, 2019 and surpassed the 19,190 record achieved by the MOL Tribune in February 2019.

In a statement, PTP credited the achievement to “efficient planning and execution of container operations and good optimization of resources.”

James Wroe, Maersk Asia Pacific head of liner operations, explained to Seatrade Maritime News that the record load is the result of outstanding dedication and full focus from everyone to set up the right operational conditions.

The vessel is sailing from Tanjung Pelepas to Rotterdam.
