Port of Vancouver holds consultation on proposed Centerm Expansion Project

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority will be holding a consultation period from May 15 to June 2 on the proposed Centerm Expansion Project.

Participants are invited to learn more about proposed construction activities, details regarding a proposed Community Investment Program, and how feedback received during the first round of consultation is being considered. This consultation is part of the port authority’s Project and Environmental Review process.

Centerm is an existing container terminal operated by DP World Vancouver on the south shore of Vancouver’s inner harbour. The proposed project is part of the port authority’s plans to accommodate Canada’s growing trade. If approved, the project would involve a series of changes to increase the number of containers that can be handled at the terminal by approximately two-thirds, while increasing the terminal footprint by 15 per cent.

The application for a project permit also includes off-terminal road and other infrastructure improvements that would benefit the entire south shore port area.
