Taiwan removes ban on Canadian beef

The Taiwanese Government announced that, effective July 8, 2016, Taiwan will allow importation of boneless and bone-in beef and other specified meat products from Canadian cattle under 30 months of age.

Taiwan temporarily suspended imports of Canadian beef in response to the February 2015 detection of an isolated case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) in Canada.

In 2014, prior to the suspension of trade, Taiwan was Canada’s seventh-largest export market for beef with exports valued at $12 million annually.
