{"id":12368,"date":"2025-04-15T15:57:08","date_gmt":"2025-04-15T15:57:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/axxessintl.com\/?p=12368"},"modified":"2025-04-15T15:57:08","modified_gmt":"2025-04-15T15:57:08","slug":"canadas-countermeasures-against-auto-imports-from-the-united-states-are-now-in-force","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/axxessintl.com\/en\/canadas-countermeasures-against-auto-imports-from-the-united-states-are-now-in-force\/","title":{"rendered":"Canada&#8217;s countermeasures against auto imports from the United States are now in force"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Minister of Finance Fran\u00e7ois-Philippe Champagne confirmed that Canada&#8217;s new countermeasures announced last week in response to the unjustified tariffs imposed by the United States on the Canadian auto industry came into force at 12:01 a.m. EDT on April 9.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The countemeasures include:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Twenty-five per cent tariffs on non- Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) compliant fully assembled vehicles imported into Canada from the United States.<br \/>\n\u2022 Twenty-five per cent tariffs on non-Canadian and non-Mexican content of CUSMA compliant fully assembled vehicles imported into Canada from the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Champagne also announced that a remission framework for auto producers that incentivizes production and investment in Canada, and helps maintain Canadian jobs, will also be implemented.
