{"id":12461,"date":"2025-04-22T18:18:21","date_gmt":"2025-04-22T18:18:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/axxessintl.com\/?p=12461"},"modified":"2025-04-22T18:18:21","modified_gmt":"2025-04-22T18:18:21","slug":"tribunal-will-not-conduct-public-interest-inquiry-on-anti-dumping-duty-on-wire-rod","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/axxessintl.com\/en\/tribunal-will-not-conduct-public-interest-inquiry-on-anti-dumping-duty-on-wire-rod\/","title":{"rendered":"Tribunal will not conduct public interest inquiry on anti-dumping duty on wire rod"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In November 2024, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) received a properly documented request for a public interest inquiry from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Egypt (Government of Egypt), regarding the Tribunal&#8217;s injury finding in NQ-2024-001 imposing anti-dumping duty on certain wire rod from Egypt (as well as from China and Vietnam).<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In the commencement phase, the Tribunal had to decide whether there are reasonable grounds to commence a public interest inquiry.<\/p>\n<p>The CITT has now issued it&#8217;s commencement phase decision: Pursuant to section 45 of SIMA, the Tribunal is of the opinion that there are no reasonable grounds to consider that the imposition of an anti-dumping duty, or the imposition of such a duty in the full amount provided for by SIMA, in respect of the goods referred to in the Tribunal&#8217;s finding in inquiry NQ-2024-001 would not or might not be in the public interest.
