The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a bill that will require the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of State to monitor efforts by the People\u2019s Republic of China to build or buy strategic foreign ports, and for other purposes.<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Strategic Ports Reporting Act<\/a>, sponsored by U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga, R-Mich., requires the State and Defense departments to conduct a study analyzing plans by China to expand its control over ports around the world.
