{"id":14057,"date":"2025-10-28T15:07:35","date_gmt":"2025-10-28T15:07:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/axxessintl.com\/?p=14057"},"modified":"2025-10-28T15:07:35","modified_gmt":"2025-10-28T15:07:35","slug":"new-u-s-tariffs-on-trucks-truck-parts-and-buses-will-take-effect-november-1st","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/axxessintl.com\/en\/new-u-s-tariffs-on-trucks-truck-parts-and-buses-will-take-effect-november-1st\/","title":{"rendered":"New U.S. tariffs on trucks, truck parts, and buses will take effect November 1st"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A United States Presidential Proclamation will impose tariffs on imports of trucks, truck parts and buses, starting on November 1, 2025.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Proclamation imposes a 25% tariff on imports of medium- and heavy-duty trucks and truck parts:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Medium- and heavy-duty trucks include Class 3 to Class 8 vehicles, like large pick-up trucks, moving trucks, cargo trucks, dump trucks, and tractors for eighteen-wheelers.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 For medium- and heavy-duty trucks that do not qualify for preferential tariff treatment under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), the tariff will apply to the full value of the vehicle. For medium- and heavy-duty trucks that qualify for preferential tariff treatment under the USMCA, the tariff will only apply to the value of the non-U.S. content in the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The tariff on medium- and heavy-duty truck parts will apply to key parts, including engines, transmissions, tires, and chassis.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 USMCA-compliant medium- and heavy-duty truck parts will not be subject to tariffs imposed in the Proclamation until the Secretary of Commerce, in consultation with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, establishes a process to apply tariffs to the non-U.S. content of the parts.<\/p>\n<p>The Proclamation also imposes a 10% tariff on imports of buses, including school buses, transit buses, and motor coaches.<\/p>\n<p><u>Note that there are several additional provisions<\/u>\u00a0in the proclamation that affect the way the new tariffs apply.
