Pending Governor in Council approval, Canada will extend the steel tariff rate quota (TRQ) system for imports from non-CUSMA countries until <strong>June 27, 2027<\/strong>, as well as existing tariff relief for eligible US steel and aluminum products and for steel products subject to derivative tariffs, until <strong>June 30, 2027<\/strong>.<\/p><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">TRQ volumes will remain set at <strong>20% of 2024 import levels<\/strong> for countries without a free trade agreement with Canada, and <strong>75%<\/strong> for those with one. Imports above quota will continue to face a <strong>50% tariff<\/strong>. The United States and Mexico remain exempt under CUSMA.<\/p><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">Alongside these extensions, the government will consult Canadian producers to ensure remission processes continue to support a competitive domestic steel market.
