{"id":2973,"date":"2022-01-05T19:53:06","date_gmt":"2022-01-05T19:53:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/axxessintl.com\/?p=2973"},"modified":"2022-01-05T19:53:06","modified_gmt":"2022-01-05T19:53:06","slug":"u-s-government-announces-over-241-million-in-grants-for-countrys-ports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/axxessintl.com\/en\/u-s-government-announces-over-241-million-in-grants-for-countrys-ports\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. Government announces over $241 million in grants for country\u2019s ports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary today announced the award of more than $241 million in discretionary grant funding for 25 projects to improve port facilities in 19 states and one territory through the Maritime Administration\u2019s (MARAD) Port Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP).<!--more--><span id=\"more-29971\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cU.S. maritime ports play a critical role in our supply chains,\u201d said U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg. \u201cThese investments in our nation\u2019s ports will help support American jobs, efficient and resilient operations, and faster delivery of goods to the American people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The PIDP is in its third year and has already awarded $492 million for 32 projects of regional and national economic significance within its first two years. The program supports efforts by ports and industry stakeholders to improve facility and freight infrastructure to ensure the Nation\u2019s freight transportation needs, present and future, are met. It provides planning and capital financing and project management assistance to improve ports\u2019 capacity and efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>The projects that were awarded grants include coastal seaports, Great Lakes ports, and inland river ports.
