{"id":5190,"date":"2022-07-19T13:59:26","date_gmt":"2022-07-19T13:59:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/axxessintl.com\/?p=5190"},"modified":"2022-07-19T13:59:26","modified_gmt":"2022-07-19T13:59:26","slug":"u-s-removes-safeguard-tariffs-on-canadian-solar-products","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/axxessintl.com\/en\/u-s-removes-safeguard-tariffs-on-canadian-solar-products\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. removes safeguard tariffs on Canadian solar products"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Canada and the United States have reached an agreement on the removal of U.S. safeguard tariffs on Canadian solar products.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The agreement follows Canada&#8217;s victory at a Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) dispute panel earlier this year, which found that the United States&#8217; tariffs were in violation of CUSMA.<\/p>\n<p>Since the imposition of the U.S. safeguard tariffs in early 2018, exports of solar products from Canada to the United States have declined by as much as 82%.<\/p>\n<p>Canada held consultations with the United States under chapter 31 of CUSMA on January 28, 2021, and Canada requested a dispute settlement panel on June 18, 2021.
