The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced that it initiated investigations respecting the alleged injurious dumping of certain concrete reinforcing bar originating in or exported from Bulgaria, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).<\/p>\n

The investigations follow a complaint filed by Canadian manufacturers. The complainants allege that as a result of an increase in volume of the dumped imports from these countries, they have suffered material injury in the form of lost market share, lost sales, price undercutting, price depression, price suppression, as well as a negative impact on capacity utilization, and financial performance.<\/p>\n

In the next step of the investigations the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) will determine, by July 2, 2024, whether the imports are harming Canadian producers.<\/p>\n

Concurrently, the CBSA will investigate whether the imports are being sold in Canada at unfair prices and will make a preliminary decision by August 1, 2024.<\/p>\n

Anti-dumping duties could eventually be applied to the goods under investigation.<\/p>\n
