Canada’s Minister of International Trade, Maninder Sidhu, met in Ottawa with Indonesia’s Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso on September 24 to sign the Canada-Indonesia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
The CEPA is an ambitious agreement that will eliminate or reduce tariff and non-tariff barriers. This will create a more transparent and predictable environment for trade and investment. Indonesia is the world’s fourth most populous country, the largest economy in Southeast Asia, and projected to become the world’s fifth largest economy.
The agreement will come into force in 2026, once both countries complete their domestic ratification processes
