Statistics Canada reports that the volume of cargo carried by Canadian railways reached 26.7 million tonnes in February, down 12.9% from February 2024, the steepest year-over-year decline in three years.

According to data for March released by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) global air cargo total demand, measured in cargo tonne-kilometers, increased by 4.4% compared to March 2024 levels (+5.5% for international operations), a historic peak for March.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced that initiated an investigation to determine whether certain carbon and alloy steel wire originating in or exported from China, the Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu, India, Italy, Malaysia, Portugal, Spain, Thailand, Türkiye, and Vietnam is being sold at unfair prices in Canada.

Tribunal will not conduct public interest inquiry on anti-dumping duty on wire rod

In November 2024, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) received a properly documented request for a public interest inquiry from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Egypt (Government of Egypt), regarding the Tribunal’s injury finding in NQ-2024-001 imposing anti-dumping duty on certain wire rod from Egypt (as well as from China and Vietnam).
