Tribunal finds dumping of certain steel strapping from several countries injures Canadian industry

After conducting a preliminary injury inquiry the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) announced that it found a reasonable indication that the dumping of certain steel strapping originating in or exported from China, Türkiye, the Republic of Korea, and Vietnam, and the subsidizing of the above-mentioned goods from China have caused injury or retardation or are threatening to cause injury to Canadian industry.

The Tribunal’s inquiry was conducted pursuant to the Special Import Measures Act as a result of the initiation of dumping and subsidizing investigations by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). The CBSA will continue its investigation and, by August 8, 2025, will issue a preliminary determination.

Provisional anti-dumping and/or countervailing duties could eventually be applicable to imports of the goods under investigation. In such a case the preliminary decisions of the Tribunal and the CBSA will have to be confirmed by final decisions.
