The Canadian International Trade Tribunal issued its findings following its inquiry to determine whether the dumping of certain carbon or alloy steel wire originating in or exported from China, Chinese Taipei, India, Italy, Malaysia, Portugal, Spain, Thailand, Türkiye and Vietnam has caused injury or retardation or is threatening to cause injury to the domestic industry.
After ruling on certain exceptions and exclusions, the Tribunal found that the dumping of the goods under inquiry, that are for commercial distribution or industrial manufacturing has caused injury to the domestic industry, but that the dumping of the aforementioned goods that are packaged for retail sale to individual consumers for domestic use, not exceeding a weight of 1 kg per retail-ready package has not caused injury or retardation and is not threatening to cause injury to the domestic industry.
The Tribunal’s inquiry and finding follow the issuance by the President of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) of a final determination of dumping issued on December 3, 2025.
Anti-dumping and/or countervailing duties will therefore be collected by the Canada Border Services Agency on certain importations of the subject goods.
