Typhoon Last Week Delays Containers at Yangtze River Delta

Last week’s typhoon, Co-May, although comparatively weak in energy saw the brief closure of Shanghai and Ningbo ports with the effect of backing up over 1 million TEU on the Yangtze River Delta.

“Congestion at Shanghai and Ningbo surged last week with over 1m TEU waiting at Yangtze River Delta anchorages due to typhoon Co-May that made landfall on 30-31 July,” reported Linerlytica.

ICS Global Logistics said port operations in Shanghai were suspended, causing delays of up to a week or more, while Ningbo ports and warehouse facilities were also suspended as floods created unsafe conditions.
