U.S. containerized imports down 7.8% in November

According to Descartes Systems, U.S. imports fell 7.8% year over year in November, mainly due to a slowdown in demand from China. Reuters notes that “despite the decline, volumes remain historically high, but weaker demand from China is putting downward pressure on rates.”

In response, several carriers have increased blank sailings to help stabilize freight rates.
