World trade volume remained stable in the third quarter of 2025

The World Trade Organization (WTO) reports that the volume of world merchandise trade plateaued at a high level in the third quarter of 2025 following a strong first-half expansion driven by import frontloading, favourable macroeconomic conditions and rising demand for AI-related products.

Global air cargo demand retains momentum, rising 5.5% in November

According to data for October released by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) global air freight demand, measured in cargo tonne-kilometers (CTK), rose by 5.5% compared to November 2024 levels (+6.9% for international operations).
Statistics Canada reports a merchandise trade deficit of $583 million in October

Statistics Canada announced that Canada’s merchandise imports increased 3.4% in October, while exports were up 2.1%. As a result, Canada’s merchandise trade balance with the world went from a small surplus of $243 million in September to a deficit of $583 million in October.
