Valenciaport's container traffic declined by 4.5 percent in September

Valenciaport's container traffic declined by 4.5 percent last September to 466,789 TEUs (4.5 percent less than the same month last year)

However, looking at port activity for the first nine months of the year, Valenciaport handled 4,287,037 containers (3.6 percent more), and extending the view to the last twelve months (year-on-year perspective), the number of units dispatched rises to 5.6 million TEUs (5.2 percent more).

The Statistical Office of the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) reports that – measured in tonnage – import and export traffic in the Valencia, Sagunto, and Gandia ports exceeded 6.3 million tonnes (down 8.05 percent) during September.

An analysis of the accumulated figures by country shows that China is the international market with the largest volume of freight traffic exchanged with Valenciaport, both in terms of tonnage and TEUs. Thus, so far in 2025, 622,313 containers (+15.19%) and over 6.6 million tons (+8.87%) have been traded with the Asian country. The United States also consolidates its position as a preferred destination with 290,458 containers (+7.06%) and over 4.5 million tons (+7.06%).

Algeria remains the third-largest market in terms of TEUs (240,407 units and +34.9%), while Italy remains ahead of the US market in terms of cargo weight, exceeding 5 million tons.
