North American transborder freight decreased 2.5% in August
According to the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics, total transborder freight between the U.S. and the other North American countries (Canada and Mexico) by all modes of transportation was valued at $133.4 billion of transborder freight moved by all modes of transportation, a decrease of 2.5% compared to August 2024
Freight between the U.S. and Canada: $62.5 billion, down 0.7% from August 2024. Estimated freight between the U.S. and Mexico: $70.9 billion, down 3.9% from August 2024.
Trucks moved an estimated $86.4 billion of freight, down 4.7% compared to August 2024, and railways moved an estimated $16.4 billion of freight, down 3.1%.
Pipelines moved an estimated $9.0 billion of freight, down 0.9% compared to August 2024, vessels moved an estimated $9.4 billion of freight, down 4.0%, and air moved an estimated $4.9 billion of freight, up 4.9%.
