U.S. airlines carried 86.8 million scheduled service passengers in August
U.S. airlines carried 86.8 million systemwide (domestic and international) scheduled service passengers in August 2025, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS). When adjusted for seasonality, August enplanements are up 0.2% from July and down 1.4% from the all-time high reached in June 2024.
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported 74.5 million domestic passengers and 12.3 million international passengers on U.S. airlines flights in August, not adjusting for seasonality.
Systemwide enplanements (86.8M) were down 0.1% from the all-time August high (86.8) reached in 2024. Domestic enplanements (74.5M) were down 0.5% from the all-time August high (74.8) reached in 2024. International enplanements (12.29M) reached a new all-time high for the month of August.
