Canadian shippers ground transportation costs increased in October
Results published by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers increased by 0.46% in October from September costs.
The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, increased by 0.43% in October.
Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers were flat in October. Fuel was 23.70% of Base Rates in October versus 23.71% in September. Last year in October, the Average Fuel Surcharge was 22.55%.
"Total Freight Costs increased 0.46% in October. Domestic LTL and Truckload increased in October while all other segments decreased. Year over year, Total Domestic LTL and Total Domestic TL segments remain above the same period last of year costs, while Cross Border LTL and Cross Border TL and continues to be below last year costs,"" said Doug Payne, President of CGFI sponsor Nulogx.
