North American transborder freight increased 3.2% in March
According to the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics, total March transborder freight between the U.S. and the other North American countries (Canada and Mexico) moved by all modes of transportation was valued at $149.5 billion of transborder freight moved by all modes of transportation, increasing 3.2% compared to March 2025.
Freight between the U.S. and Canada, at $65.5 billion, was down 2.9% from March 2025, while freight between the U.S. and Mexico, reaching $84.0 billion, was up 8.6% from March 2025.
Trucks moved $98.6 billion of freight, up 4.7% compared to March 2025 and railways moved $16.5 billion of freight, down 10.2% compared to March 2025.
Vessels moved $9.5 billion of freight, up 3.8% compared to March 2025. Pipelines moved $9.4 billion of freight, up 3.6% compared to March 2025. Air moved $8.0 billion of freight, up 33.7% compared to March 2025.
