Importing animals and travelling with pets

Canada has specific import requirements in place to avoid introducing animal diseases to protect its people, plants and animals.

These requirements will apply if you are travelling with a pet or planning to import an animal to Canada. One is the recently (2022) adopted measure prohibiting the entry of commercial dogs from countries at high-risk for dog rabies
