On June 26, 2026, following its inquiry NQ-2025-008, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) found that the dumping and subsidizing of thermoformed molded fibre tableware, originating in or exported from China, have caused injury to the Canadian domestic industry. As a result of the decision, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will now collect definitive antidumping and countervailing duties on the subject imports. The complaint that triggered the inquiry was filed by CKF Inc., a Canadian producer based in Hantsport, Nova Scotia.
The decision concludes a process initiated on October 15, 2025, when the CBSA launched its dumping and subsidy investigations. On February 27, 2026, the CBSA issued preliminary determinations of dumping and subsidizing, which triggered the collection of provisional duties. Those preliminary determinations were then confirmed by final decisions on May 28, 2026, subject to the CITT’s finding on injury. That final step has now been completed with the formal finding of injury.
For importers, this means that antidumping and countervailing duties will replace the provisional duties collected since February on the subject goods. The Tribunal’s detailed reasons for the findings — which will specify the applicable rates and definitive parameters — will be issued on July 13, 2026. Importers are encouraged to review upcoming shipments and assess the impact of the duties on their landed costs.
