U.S. starts dumping/subsidy investigations of corrosion-resistant steel from Canada

The U.S. Department of Commerce announced on September 26, 2024 the initiation of antidumping duty investigations from corrosion-resistant steel products (CORE) from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, the Netherlands, South Africa, Taiwan, Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam, and countervailing duty investigations of the same products from Brazil, Canada, Mexico, and Vietnam.

The alleged dumping margins for goods from Canada range from 19.73% to 52.08% and the alleged subsidy rates for Canada are said to be above de minimis (over 1%)

Canada exported 930,342,786 kilograms of corrosion-resistant steel products to the U.S. in 2023 with a total value of US$ 1,251,476,560
