CBSA starts dumping and subsidizing investigations on mattresses from China

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced that it initiated investigations respecting the alleged injurious dumping and subsidizing of mattresses from China.

The investigations follow a complaint filed by a Canadian mattress manufacturer and the United Steelworkers of Canada.

In the next step of the investigation the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) will determine, by April 25, 2022, whether the imports are harming Canadian producers.

Concurrently, the CBSA will investigate whether the imports are being sold in Canada at unfair prices and/or are being subsidized, and will make a preliminary decision by May 25, 2022.

Anti-dumping and/or countervailing duties could eventually be applied to the goods under investigation.
