In response to a query from CIFFA Tuesday regarding fluidity, CN Rail stated the following:
“We have not placed an embargo on acceptance of empties, with the import loaded ground count exceeding 4700 containers at CN facilities (BIT / MISC & Malport / CSS) and the amount of empty containers we currently have on ground awaiting rail to the Ports, we are providing capacity based on the outbound ground count so that we can clear out the empties on hand plus handle the additional ingates and then allow for additional capacity for empties to come in the gate. This is a very fluid situation which is being monitored very closely and are working with our Shipping Line partners on this.”
