The rehabilitation project on the Canadian Span of the Thousand Islands Bridge System will pause for the winter season and is scheduled to resume in the spring of 2025.
The bridge will remain open to vehicular traffic throughout the winter pause, with normal operations expected.
The Thousand Islands Bridge Authority (TIBA) and The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited (FBCL) report that significant advancements have been made this year, focusing on enhancing the safety and structural integrity of the bridge. With the most impactful phases of work completed, the remaining tasks will continue next spring with minimal anticipated disruption to travelers.
The project is scheduled to resume in the spring, focusing on completing the final phase of wrapping the west main cable. The remaining work will be less disruptive, involving only nighttime alternating lane closures with no closures during the day. Additionally, there will be no noise impacts during this phase.
